Mandarin duck

 I was very lucky to get a new lens for my birthday recently, a Canon EF70-300mm! I tried it out for the first time at St Stephen's Green park in Dublin the other day, I was delighted to be able to get so much closer to the birds! Here's a mandarin duck I got at the pond.

Twiggy Christmas greeting

 I collected some more twigs and leaves in the garden this morning to spell Happy Christmas on the snow. Again, I just brought up the brightness to bring out the colours. Probably won't have time now to do some cards out of it but there's always next year!

Tinderbox banner

I've made this banner for the Tinderbox Network. Had the idea of making the most of the snow before it goes away, arranged a few twigs onto the snow in my back garden, took the photo, brought up the brightness slider to the max and this is the result! I'm thinking of making Christmas cards using this idea...

Robin Christmas cards

I took this photograph of a robin during the cold spell we had last January. It was outside the Iveagh Gardens in Dublin, probably looking for food from me, instead it got a photograph! No zoom lens was used here, I was able to get quite close and the photograph is cropped a bit. I made Christmas cards out of it!

Dublin Christmas cards

This is the design I've settled on for my Christmas cards. I'll have scenes of Dublin in the snow that I took today, like the one in this card.
My cards, as well as cards designed by different artists from the Tinderbox Network will be at the Crafty Market this Sunday the 5th of December, from 1 till 6.30. Proceeds will go towards supporting collaborative artistic projects.

Last Easter I went back to my hometown and visited this park I'd never been to before. A beautiful and interesting place, but very little known. Scenes from 'Dr Zhivago' were shot in it!
